The Gourmet Viking, Sydney's leading Nordic restaurant, was established in 2003. Located in Enmore, in Sydney's inner west, The Gourmet Viking is in the heart of Newtown and Enmore's famous foodie strip, and close to the Enmore Theatre. Copenhagen is now home to 14 of the world's highest Michelin-starred
restaurants, including Restaurant Magazine restaurant of the year, Noma, and increasingly the healthy aspects of Scandinavian cuisine are being appreciated worldwide. The Gourmet Viking is proud to bring Nordic food to Australia.

Melding traditional Scandinavian food with contemporary European fine dining, the Gourmet Viking straddles the heartland of Northern European fare with healthy, fresh tastes and both traditional and contemporary takes on this acclaimed cuisine. The finest quality gravad laks, dill cured salmon; lightly fried cod roe with a remoulade sauce; the rarest of roast beef and delicately smoked ham, smoked fish, frikadeller, liver pate, Danish rye bread and pickled herring are all stars on this menu.

The menu offers delicious forays into the culinary world of Scandinavia from its proud Viking past to contemporary haute cuisine. There is a fabulous range of seafood and traditional Danish open sandwiches, as well as an extensive array of mains and daily specials. With a sophisticated yet ambient vibe the restaurant is fashioned on the great hall of Odin, Valhalla, with a fully licensed bar that overlooks the street, and seating for up to 50 guests. Contemporary art adorns the walls and there is a warmth borne of great food, great company and outstanding service.

There is an old Danish adage, that rather than eating to live the Nordic people live to eat. Nowhere is this better seen than at the Gourmet Viking. It is truly the food of the gods.
